ROBES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
and the
(Wedding Feast of the Lamb)

Excerpts from
A HUDDLE FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS

They were relentless with their bitter sarcasm and seething hatred for him. He had to go! Every time he spoke, daggers hit their mark and exposed their rotten decaying corpses. Jesus knowing this told them a parable that practically guaranteed his death. It was a story of a king who was having a wedding feast for his son and he had had his oxen butchered and his cows fattened for this special occasion. He sent out slaves with invitations to the locals to come to the feast; but the invitations were spurned, the slaves beaten, and his servants killed. Enraged, the King told his servants to go to the highways and streets and find both good and evil and bring them in to the wedding feast that he had prepared for his son. The banquet hall was filled with guest who were drinking, eating, dancing, and enjoying themselves.

Now during the feast, as the King was making his rounds in the large hall and greeting the hundreds of guest who had been invited, he came upon a gentleman who was thoroughly enjoying the best tasting steak that he had ever eaten. The juice was dripping from his lips onto his robes as he gouged himself. Right in the middle of a big bite; he felt someone tap him on the shoulder. It was the King. Panic set in because he knew that he had crashed the gate of this party without the proper clothing that had been given to the guest by the King. He was a dead duck.

“Where are your garments for my wedding feast sir?”

There was silence in the entire room as the guest waited anxiously and eagerly for the response. The roasted piece of ox stuck between his teeth never made it to his stomach. The King quickly called for the servants to come and throw the gate crasher outside. Three huge bouncers picked him up by the seat of his pants and the scruff of his collar and threw him outside on his face. Everyone at the wedding feast who watched this was awfully glad that they had on the right clothing for the wedding feast. The King turns to his servants and guests and says,

“Many have been called but few have been chosen.

The scribes and Pharisees of Jesus’s day considered themselves as a lock in for the wedding feast of the coming kingdom. They had the right pedigree, they lived in the right nation, and they were the called of God. They had everything but the right set of clothes and this parable was targeted directly at them and they knew it.

The Huddle for Righteousness is about the proper clothing that God has given to his people. Adam and Eve received these garments after they were kicked out of the garden, Abraham wore them in Canaan, the prodigal son received them when he came back home, and the apostle Paul wore them on a daily basis.

The Huddle for Righteousness is the invitation to prepare yourself for the wedding of the Son of God. Are you wearing the proper garments for the wedding of his son? Jesus Christ has offered us a new set of garments for our old faded blue jeans and sad looking t-shirts. It is these new set of garments that I desire to write about and offer you to try them on as your new suit of clothes. This book gives me the privilege and the joy of inviting you to the wedding feast of the Lamb, it will replenish your soul, it offers you refreshments of good food, a warm soothing bath, fresh new garments of righteousness, a bright shiny new sword for your battle, and a healing balm from Gilead for the wounded heart. Selah. Drink deeply my friend.
